Student Exchange Program Launched Between Pakistan and Philippines

LAHORE – May 9, 2025 (APP): The Honorary Consul General of the Philippines, Fadhel Sheikh, met Governor Punjab Sardar Saleem Haider Khan at the Governor’s House on Friday. They discussed new ways to strengthen Pakistan-Philippines relations, especially in education, tourism, and trade.

Governor Saleem Haider said Pakistan highly values its partnership with the Philippines. He noted that there are many opportunities for cooperation, especially in textiles and pharmaceuticals. He also stressed the need for more people-to-people connections, which would help both countries learn from each other’s experiences.

The Governor called for an exchange of student delegations, which would allow students from both countries to study abroad and better understand different cultures.

Fadhel Sheikh announced that a student exchange program will soon begin between Pakistan and the Philippines. As part of the Governor’s Scholarship Program, two Pakistani students will study in the Philippines, while two Filipino students will come to Pakistan to study in any field they choose.

He added that the Philippines supports peace in the region and hopes that Pakistan and India can resolve issues through dialogue.

This meeting marks a new chapter in educational and diplomatic ties between Pakistan and the Philippines, with both sides looking forward to greater cooperation in the future.
