LAHORE – May 2025: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif met the Finland Ambassador, Hannu Ripatti, to discuss new ways to build a strong partnership between Pakistan and Finland. The main focus was on working together in education, trade, and technology.
During the meeting, Maryam Nawaz praised Finland’s excellent education system and its progress in modern technology. She said Pakistan can learn a lot from Finland, especially in areas like digital learning, environmental safety, and sustainable growth.
The Chief Minister welcomed the reopening of Finland’s embassy in Islamabad. She said it would make it easier for people from both countries to connect and for leaders to hold more important meetings. She also mentioned the role of the Pakistani community in Finland, calling them a “bridge of friendship” between the two nations.
Both sides talked about the growing cooperation in vocational training, which helps students and workers gain practical skills. They also agreed that this was a great step toward a stronger partnership.
Maryam Nawaz shared that Punjab has a lot of potential in renewable energy, farming innovation, digital services, and education reforms. She invited Finland to invest in these fields and work with Punjab to create new opportunities.
The Finnish ambassador appreciated Punjab’s interest in international partnerships. He said Finland looks forward to building better relations with the province.
The meeting ended with both leaders agreeing to continue working together and making long-term plans for economic and educational development.
