LAHORE: The Punjab Government School Education Department has announced revised school timings across Punjab following the start of Ramadan 2026, aiming to facilitate fasting students and teaching staff.

According to an official notification issued on February 16, new schedules will apply to both single-shift and double-shift schools throughout the holy month.

For single-shift schools, classes will be held from 8:30am to 1:00pm from Monday to Thursday, while Friday classes will end at 12:30pm.

In double-shift schools, the morning shift will operate from 8:30am to 12:30pm, and the evening shift will run from 1:00pm to 4:00pm from Monday to Thursday. On Fridays, double-shift schools will function from 2:30pm to 5:00pm.

The notification also stated that girls’ schools will begin and finish their sessions 15 minutes earlier than the standard timings.

These revised schedules will remain in effect throughout Ramadan to help students and teachers manage their academic activities alongside religious obligations.

Ramadan in Pakistan is expected to begin on February 19, 2026, subject to moon sighting. During the holy month, Muslims fast from dawn to sunset, increase prayers and Quran recitation, and engage more in charitable acts.
