What is MDCAT and Why Does the Aggregate Matter?

MDCAT (Medical and Dental College Admission Test) is the national entry test conducted by the Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC) every year for students seeking admission to MBBS and BDS programs across Pakistan. Clearing MDCAT is not enough on its own—your final admission depends on your aggregate score, which combines your FSc marks and your MDCAT score using a specific formula.

Every year, over 150,000 students appear in the MDCAT test across Pakistan. The competition is intense. A difference of even 1–2% in your aggregate can determine whether you get a seat in a government medical college or not. That is why understanding how to calculate your aggregate correctly—before results are even announced—is so important.

Our free MDCAT Aggregate Calculator 2025 does this for you in seconds. No manual calculation, no confusion, no errors.

MDCAT Aggregate Formula — How It Is Calculated

The aggregate percentage is calculated by combining your FSc marks and MDCAT score using weighted percentages. Different universities and programs use slightly different weightages. Here are the three most common formulas used in Pakistan:

1. PMDC / PMC Formula (Most Common)

This is the standard formula used for government medical college admissions across Punjab, Sindh, KPK, and Balochistan:

Aggregate = (FSc Obtained ÷ 1100 × 100) × 40% + (MDCAT Score ÷ 210 × 100) × 60%

Example:

  • FSc Marks: 980 out of 1100 → FSc % = 89.09%
  • MDCAT Score: 160 out of 210 → MDCAT % = 76.19%
  • Aggregate = (89.09 × 0.40) + (76.19 × 0.60)
  • Aggregate = 35.63 + 45.71 = 81.34%

2. NUMS Formula (National University of Medical Sciences)

NUMS uses equal weightage for both FSc and MDCAT:

Aggregate = (FSc % × 50%) + (MDCAT % × 50%)

Example:

  • FSc % = 89.09%, MDCAT % = 76.19%
  • Aggregate = (89.09 × 0.50) + (76.19 × 0.50)
  • Aggregate = 44.54 + 38.09 = 82.63%

3. Hafiz-ul-Quran Bonus

Students who have memorized the Holy Quran are eligible for a 20-mark bonus added to their MDCAT score before aggregate calculation. This is a significant advantage and can raise the aggregate by 1–2%.

How to Use the MDCAT Aggregate Calculator

Our calculator is designed to be simple and instant. Follow these steps:

Step 1 — Select Your University Formula

At the top of the calculator, select which university or formula you want to use:

  • PMDC / PMC—Use this for government medical colleges in Punjab, Sindh, KPK, Balochistan
  • NUMS—Use this for NUMS-affiliated medical colleges
  • AKU/Others—Use this for Aga Khan University or other institutions with custom weightages

The formula displayed below the tabs updates automatically so you can see exactly what calculation will be used.

Step 2—Enter Your FSc Marks

Type your FSc-obtained marks in the first box. The default total is 1100 (standard FSC Pre-Medical). If your board has a different total, change the FSc Total field accordingly.

The progress bar below the input shows your FSc percentage visually—green means strong, amber means average, and red means low.

Step 3—Enter Your MDCAT Score

Enter your MDCAT score in the third box. The total is set to 210 by default (PMC 2025 standard). If your test had a different total, update the MDCAT Total field.

Step 4—Select Hafiz-ul-Quran Bonus

If you are a Hafiz-ul-Quran, select “Yes” from the bonus dropdown. The calculator will automatically add 20 marks to your MDCAT score before calculating the aggregate.

Step 5—Click “Calculate My Aggregate.”

Hit the red button and your results appear instantly:

  • Your exact aggregate percentage
  • FSc percentage and MDCAT percentage separately
  • Admission chances for 6 top medical colleges with color-coded status
  • Performance verdict (Excellent, Very Good, Good, Average)

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: What is the minimum MDCAT score to get admission in a government medical college?
There is no fixed minimum MDCAT score—admission depends on your aggregate. However, scoring 65% or above (137/210) in MDCAT is the PMC requirement to be eligible. For government colleges, practically, you need an aggregate of 80% or higher to be competitive.

Q: My FSc results are not out yet. Can I still use this calculator?
Yes. You can enter your estimated FSc marks to see what aggregate you might get. This is very useful for planning—if your estimated aggregate is below 80%, you know you need to focus extra hard on MDCAT preparation.

Q: Does the MDCAT aggregate calculator work for all provinces?
The PMDC formula (40% FSc + 60% MDCAT) is used in Punjab, Sindh, KPK, and Balochistan for government medical colleges. NUMS has its own formula (50/50). Always confirm with the specific university you are applying to.

Q: I appeared in A-Levels instead of FSc. How do I calculate my aggregate?
For A-Level students, PMC converts your grades to an equivalent percentage. Contact PMC or your university’s admission office for the official equivalence certificate. Once you have the equivalent percentage, use that as your FSc percentage in this calculator.

Q: What is the Hafiz-ul-Quran bonus in MDCAT?
Students who have memorized the complete Holy Quran are awarded 20 additional marks in the MDCAT test by the PMC. These bonus marks are added to the MDCAT score before the aggregate is calculated. Our calculator has a Hafiz bonus toggle for this purpose.

Q: Can I use this calculator for NUMS admissions?
Yes. Select the “NUMS” tab in our calculator, and it will switch to the NUMS formula (50% FSc + 50% MDCAT) automatically.

Q: What if I scored below 65% in MDCAT?
Students who score below 65% (137/210) are not eligible for MBBS/BDS admissions in PMC-recognized colleges regardless of their FSc marks. In this case, you would need to appear in MDCAT again next year.

Q: Is the MDCAT held once a year?
Yes. MDCAT is conducted once per year, usually in August or September. Results are announced within 2–3 weeks of the test.

Tips to Improve Your MDCAT Score and Aggregate

Since your aggregate combines two components, you can work on improving both:

Improving Your MDCAT Score:

  1. Focus on Biology—Biology carries the most weight in MDCAT (68 questions). A strong biology score significantly raises your MDCAT percentage.
  2. Practice past papers—PMC releases sample papers. Solving previous MDCAT papers helps you understand the question pattern and difficulty level.
  3. Use Sabaq.pk and other free resources — Free platforms like Sabaq.pk, Noon Academy, and YouTube channels offer quality MDCAT preparation content without any cost.
  4. Manage exam time—With 210 questions in 3.5 hours, you have approximately 1 minute per question. Practice timed tests to build speed.
  5. Revise concepts, not just facts—MDCAT tests the application of concepts. Memorizing without understanding leads to errors in scenario-based questions.

Improving Your Aggregate:

  1. Retake FSc improvement exams—If you have completed FSc, you can appear in the board improvement exam. Even a small increase in FSc marks (e.g., from 970 to 1010) can raise your aggregate by 1–2%.
  2. Calculate your target—use this calculator to work backwards. If KEMU requires 88%, and your FSc aggregate contribution is 35%, calculate exactly what MDCAT score you need to reach 88%.
