CM Punjab Unveils Development Plans, Praises Youth at GCUF Ceremony

Faisalabad, May 14, 2025Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz has said that education-focused policies are key to unlocking the true potential of Pakistan’s youth, calling them the nation’s biggest strength and future leaders.

She made these remarks during a laptop and scholarship distribution ceremony held at Government College University Faisalabad (GCUF).

Investing in Youth through Education

Maryam Nawaz stressed that only education can improve attitudes and help Pakistan compete with developed nations. She highlighted that the Punjab government has allocated major funds to provide laptops and scholarships to talented but underprivileged students.

“This is not charity—it’s your right,” she told the students, encouraging them to focus on studies and become responsible citizens.

Big Announcements for Faisalabad

During her speech, CM Maryam Nawaz made several major announcements:

  • Metrobus service for Faisalabad to be launched in 2026
  • Introduction of green electric buses to improve urban mobility and sustainability
  • A Faisalabad Development Plan modeled after Lahore to uplift both cities and villages

She expressed strong belief in the youth’s ability to transform Pakistan and urged them to stay united and avoid divisive ideologies.

Tribute to Armed Forces and National Unity

The CM praised the courage of Pakistan’s armed forces, police, and civilians, especially those who made sacrifices for the country. She also mentioned the historic nuclear tests of May 28, 1998, led by former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, as a proud moment of patriotism.

“We faced pressure and threats, but national security came first,” she recalled.

Message to Students

Maryam Nawaz urged students to stay focused on education, saying:

“Your future lies in laptops, not weapons. Serve Pakistan with unity, discipline, and hard work.”

She also thanked Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir, and Air Chief Zaheer Babar Sindhu for their leadership. She appreciated the efforts of her team, including Provincial Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat and Secretary Dr. Farrakh Naveed, for their dedication to student welfare.
