Punjab Government Extended Summer Vacations

LAHORE, Aug 8 — The Punjab government has extended summer vacations for all public and private schools across the province until August 31, with classes now scheduled to resume on September 1.

The School Education Department issued an official notification on Wednesday, overriding the earlier plan to reopen schools on August 14. All District Education Authorities (DEAs) have been directed to strictly enforce the new schedule.

While the notification did not specify a reason, the decision comes amid persistent extreme weather conditions across Punjab. This is the second change to the academic calendar during the current summer break.

Parents and students are urged to take note of the updated reopening date, while schools are expected to revise their academic schedules accordingly. It remains unclear whether the extension will impact the broader academic calendar or examination timelines.

Punjab School Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat also confirmed the change on social media, stating, “Schools in Punjab will be opened from Sept 1.”
