The recent matriculation exam results in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) have sparked serious concerns about the performance of government schools.
According to the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Peshawar, only 151 out of 739 students from various government schools passed their exams. This means the pass rate was just over 20%, highlighting a major issue in the province’s public education system.
❌ 100% Failures in Some Schools
Several schools had zero students pass the exams:
- Government Girls School Haryana Payan, Peshawar: All students failed
- Government School Beori, Chitral: 100% failure
- In four other government schools in Chitral, only 5 out of 30 students passed
- Government Girls School Daman-e-Afghani: 33 out of 35 students failed
- Women’s Higher Secondary School, Charsadda: 11 out of 13 students failed
These poor results have raised serious questions about teaching quality, lack of educational resources, and weak monitoring by the provincial education department.
📊 Overall Matric Result 2025
Despite the failures in many government schools, BISE Peshawar announced a total pass percentage of 83.5% across all institutions.
- Total students appeared: 91,589
- Total passed: 76,484
- Failed: 14,530

👩🎓 Girls Lead in Science Group
This year, female students showed outstanding performance, especially in the Science Group. The top three positions were all taken by girls from Peshawar Model School Girls Branches.
- 1st Place: Fatimah Jugnu – 1,180 marks
- 2nd Place: Sara Imran – 1,178 marks
- 3rd Place (tie): Shumaila and Aina Shoaib – 1,176 marks
- Aina is from the Dalazak Road branch.
These results show a clear gap between private and government school performance, and many are now demanding improvements in public education in KP.
